Pancake Breakfast!

Wow! It was a crazy busy weekend! We all had to go back to work just to rest up. We're planning a large service project at the Nelson Children's Center this fall, and we have to raise all the funds for the project. So, this weekend we hosted our first ever pancake breakfast (times 2). We originally planned for the breakfast to be Saturday. We invited all of the neighboring Lutheran churches and were hoping for a good turnout. Unfortunately, our turnout was less than stellar. We were really disappointed -- until a marvelous church member wrote us a check for our goal amount! How generous! Even though we made our goal, we decided to carry the pancake breakfast over to Sunday morning before Sunday School. We were so busy! We far surpassed our goal, which will allow us to do all the things we want to do for the Nelson Center. Wow how God provides! Thanks to all of the people who helped with the breakfast -- especially our cooks! Applause! Applause! Thanks also to all those who donated to our cause. We are truly grateful. We're going to start having pancake breakfasts every fifth Sunday, so mark your calendars for the end of August!

Galaxy Drive-In

If you've never gone to a drive-in, you're really missing out. Little can beat a double feature, burger, fries, and dippin' dots for less that $20. And, you can bring your dogs! We headed to Galaxy Drive-In Theatre Saturday night for Indiana Jones and Iron Man. Both movies were action-filled and very drive-in worthy. The food was yummy, but we were disappointed to not get any sno-cones. They ran out of ice! Ugh. We settled for dippin' dots, which were pretty good, though I don't really recommend Tropical Rainbow. We left the movies at 2am, so it was a very late night. And then the puppy piddled on Mark's seat before we left, so he had to sit on the bags for the folding chairs. Ah well, at least the puppy didn't piddle on Mark!

BuzzBrews

This first Sunday of the month we headed to BuzzBrews for lunch. www.buzzbrews.com This was a new experience for most everyone, though I am a huge fan of the retro-diner. It's a small place, and there wasn't a table big enough for our group, so we were split. I'm not sure everyone was sold on the place, though most didn't follow the rule of ordering down the middle. If you order down the middle of the menu, you can't go wrong. How can you not enjoy Mrs. C and garlic marbles? Mmmm... I'm getting hungry just thinking of it. All in all we had fun and enjoyed some tasty food. We'll have to try something new next time (with more space, I think).
